Smith Street Soupfest

By

It is finally starting to feel like fall weather, and just in time too, because Saturday means that more than 20 restaurants along Smith Street in Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill will be cooking up cauldrons of warm, nourishing stews, bisques, and broths for the annual Tastes of Brooklyn Smith Street Soup Festival taking place from 1-4pm. It appears that this year the powers that be have added cupcakes to the mix, which I can’t imagine anyone will complain about. A $10 ticket will get you 5 tastings, a $20 ticket will get you 12, and proceeds will benefit the Culinary Arts program of the Boerum Hill School for International Studies—some of the student chefs will even be throwing their own hats in the ring for the Best Soup competition, which is decided by public vote. A map of participating restaurants, which include Bar Tabac, Stinky BKLYN, Caputo’s, and other neighborhood faves, is here to make things convenient.
