The New York Comedy Festival, one of the events we singled out on our November culture calendar, is back starting on Monday night, and it’s celebrating its 15th year with its most comprehensive lineup of events yet. There are great performances and shows to catch all week long (I love the concept of Tuesday’s Stand By Your Band competition, which pits comics against each other head-to-head to defend terrible, guilty pleasure bands like Spin Doctors and 311), but I’d advise kicking things off with Jen Kirkman’s stand up at The Bell House at 7:30 on Monday. Tickets are $25 each and are still available (for now).
