Whether you have work on Monday or not, cap your President’s Day weekend off with something new and different: an elimination-style Cassoulet War! Starting at 7pm at the Kimpton Hotel in Midtown, over 30 chefs from places like Gramercy Tavern and Villanelle will be serving up their own spin on the traditional, hearty French stew, in hopes of being named “Most Authentic,” “Most Daring,” or “Most Popular.” With a $75 ticket, you will be able to try as many as you want with pairings of French red wine and Armagnac. You’ll also be entered to win a round trip ticket to France with the winning chef to attend the Fete du Cassoulet in Castelnaudary—which begs the question, who knew there were so many cassoulet cookoffs?
