Get your schmear on at Russ & Daughters’ soft opening

By

As I was walking back from a terrific dumpling-making class at Brooklyn Grange last week, Building 77’s food hall in the Brooklyn Navy Yard was lit up, and looked on the verge of opening. Indeed, the flagship food vendor, Russ & Daughter’s, announced their soft-opening three days ago, and if you have the luxury of being able to pop in Mondays through Fridays while it’s relatively quiet, you should. (The soft-open weekday hours are 8am and either 4pm or 4:30, there’s a discrepancy between their site and phone.) The 18,000 space serves as their home base for all their baking and shipping, as well as events and a counter to pick up smoked fish and matzoh ball soup, bagels, bialys, babkas and more. Whatever low or no-carb diet you’re on (by choice), it’s time to break it to celebrate!
