The venues that made Brooklyn weddings a thing: The Green Building and 501 Union

It’s hard to believe, but nearly 10 years ago, The Green Building opened in Gowanus and helped turn Brooklyn into one of the country’s hottest wedding destinations. When its sister venue, 501 Union opened in 2013 across the street, it made the area of Union and Bond one of the most popular places to marry in the borough: both venues host multiple weddings each weekend at the height of wedding season.

The appeal of each space has only grown over time, as each venue continually adds new features. Here are the latest and greatest additions you can look forward to if you tie the knot here:

From mild-mannered to opulent, the GB’s in-house bar packages offer options to find the best fit for your vision and budget – without the worry of handling the nitty-gritty details. Their beverage packages include ice, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and expert bar staff.

Choices range from the Brunch Bar (a collection of your favorite day-time cocktails including Mimosas & Bloody Marys) perfect for a Sunday wedding, to the Classic Bar (5 classic cocktails, a selection of standard liquors, beer & wine), to the Ultra Luxe Bar that pulls out all the stops, incorporating an elevated selection of all wines along with luxe liquors that will please even the most discerning guest.

Plus: The new in-house bars are Carrera marble-topped!

A new and improved Atrium at 501 Union

In 501 Union’s newly covered atrium, you can get married under the sun (or stars!) all year round. The space will be filled with lots of lush greenery, creating a secret garden-like feel. Say your vows, toast your guests, or pull in a food truck for a late-night snack…all without a thought to the weather.
