Sally Rooney’s new novel takes center stage in talk with Emma Straub

By

Emma Straub is Brooklyn literary royalty, between her bestselling novels Modern Lovers and The Vacationers and the beloved bookstore she co-owns, Books Are Magic. Needless to say, when Straub vouches for an author, I’m in. So, while I missed Irish writer Sally Rooney’s debut novel Conversations with Friends, a couple of years back, I won’t be making the same mistake with her sophomore effort, Normal People, which she’ll be discussing with Straub on Tuesday. Come for the conversation, stay for readings from the book, which tells the story of an unshakable connection between a pair of dramatically different teenagers. The free event starts at 7:30 pm at the First Unitarian Congregational Society in Brooklyn Heights.
