Sunday in Brooklyn: Plant Parties and Political Comedy

By

On Sunday, duck out of the (forecasted) rain at our wellness fest + market, Holistic Picnic, at The Green Building from noon to 6pm. Score a new houseplant from Rooted, drop into one of the free talks or meditation sessions, learn about herbalism in one of three remaining workshops, and sip on a CBD cocktail or margarita (it is Cinco de Mayo after all). Tickets start at $12 in advance, $15 day of. While you’re in the neighborhood, Gowanus Souvenir Shop up the street is hosting the Gowanus Canal Conservancy’s native plant sale. And later that night in Gowanus, The Bell House is once again bringing a bevy of comedians, artists, and feminists to its stage for Persisticon III: There Is No Planet B, a fundraiser for Emily’s List, which is committed to electing progressive pro-choice women and equalizing the representation of all genders in government. Ophira Eisenberg will emcee an exciting lineup that includes Michelle Buteau, David Cross, Aparna Nancherla, and Amber Tamblyn, among other notable names. The party starts at 7pm and tickets start at $30.
