The wait is over! The legendary Patti LaBelle kicks off the 2019 season of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival on Tuesday, June 4, followed by 10 weeks of free shows at the Bandshell!
You can see fresh-off-Coachella Burna Boy, indie rock powerhouse Liz Phair, electro-cumbia superstars Bomba Estéreo, the highlife and hip hop infused Jidenna, and the genre-defying French-Cuban twins Ibeyi. We’re ready to dance along to the funky grooves of Tank and the Bangas, bask in Afro-Cuban jazz from Chucho Valdés, watch an amazing performance from Ailey II, experience the martial arts extravaganza Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, enjoy Salif Keita, the “Golden Voice of Africa,” and then some! Plus, BRIC has commissioned a live concert performance of Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On, featuring an all-women musical team.
This year, the Festival is also introducing a new food and beverage vendor, curated by Big Mozz, featuring Southern comfort food from Sweet Chick, an oyster bar from Brooklyn Oyster Party, gourmet sandwiches by Mekelburg’s, and everyone’s favorite ice cream sandwiches by The Good Batch.
