A facial hair contest to honor Brooklyn’s OG beardo

On Saturday, celebrate the 200th birthday of Brooklyn poet and OG beardo, Walt Whitman, at a Beard and Moustache Competition taking place in Fort Greene Park and sponsored by the Brooklyn Public Library, Coney Island USA, and Fort Greene Park Conservancy. From noon to 3pm, contestants of all ages and genders will be judged in categories like Leaves of Grass (Best Natural Beard) and The Good Gray Poet (Best in Show). The event, which is free to attend, will be cohosted by Coney Island performance artist Adam Realman and comedian Nore Davis, with special guest judges Murf Meyer, Sue Smith, Jordan Temple, Jennifer Miller, and Norman Eriksen.
