City Farms’ summer concert series at Industry City kicked off its season this week, and Friday night brings R&B and hip hop singer/songwriter and Missy Elliott protegee Lady Wray to the stage for an 8pm show in the courtyard with opener 79.5. Unlike some of the other outdoor concerts I’m looking forward to this summer, this one will leave your frozen drinks fund relatively intact, as tickets are just $18. If you want to keep the party going afterwards, swing by Mama Tried, a laid back new cocktail bar in the unlikeliest of places, nestled under the BQE amidst the XXX shops and live poultry places on 3rd Ave and 27th Street. There’s a free jukebox and an outdoor patio that’s a bit of a work in progress but enjoyable nonetheless, and it’s a nice spot to unwind at the end of a long week.
