Sunday in Brooklyn: An evening of magic mushrooms (not that kind) at Honey’s

By

Let’s face it, even in a city as big and busy as ours is, it can sometimes feel impossible to meet new people that aren’t part from the office or your same old social circle (and please don’t direct me to dating apps because UGH). Over the years, my writing for BB has frequently required me to attend various events alone, which I’ve personally found to be one of the best ways to organically bond with fun and interesting strangers out there. Case in point: foodies should think about ponying up the $75 to attend Sunday’s Tres Hongos: A Mushroom Experience, at Honey’s, the cocktail bar associated with Enlightenment Wines Meadery, to meet like-minded folk who are psyched to learn how to grow and cook their own mushrooms. Each participant will make his or her own mushroom growing bag with help from Smallhold (NYC’s only mushroom farm); learn how to grill 3 varieties of fungi from Honey’s chefs; and enjoy a delicious mushroom lunch with beans, tortillas, and oil made with special chilis from Mexico City. The workshop starts at noon and runs for 3 hours, and I can pretty much guarantee that you’ll leave with at least one new friend.
