If you’re a dog lover, you might be thrilled to hear that there is finally an ice cream parlor catering to humans and dogs. North 3rd Market has transformed into a hotbed of summer treats. First, there is Brooklyn Shave Ice, whose Hawaiian shaved ice desserts are popular at flea markets around the city. Flavors include Pink Lemonade, Blue Hawaiian, and Wild Cherry and mixed all together in a cup that’s bigger than a balloon is a joy to behold. Then there is Urban Whipped Dessert Lab, which is opening soon, and going to serve up vegan dream ice cream—think oat-milk based, vegan soft-serve ice cream with inventive flavors like Coffee Waffle Crunch.

This spirits-infused, cocktail-inspired ice cream shop has been buzzing customers in Manhattan for years, but has finally come to Brooklyn. This new location continues the tradition of serving boozy ice cream and sorbet to a 21 and up crowd with 5% ABV, but this location will also serve just plain old wine and beer, as well as alcoholic ice cream floats. Sometimes it’s just too hot to even drink a cocktail.

McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams

Although California-based McConnell’s is hardly new (this year marks its 70th anniversary), they are getting on the interesting flavor bandwagon with a few original flavors to seek out in the frozen section. Honey & Cornbread Cookies is made from Santa Barbara honey and mixed with chunks of sweet and salty cornbread cookies; Wild Sweet Clover incorporates a fresh clover extract, and the Olive Oil and Salted Almond is made using a local oil from California’s Central Valley.
