The Takedown, a monthly competition that pits local home cooks against each other in a competition to win “best in show” for a specific category of food, has become somewhat of a Brooklyn institution in the many years that it has been in existence. Although a cook-off featuring dozens of recipes for mac ‘n cheese, chili, or tacos is always a great idea, the Ice Cream Takedown, which happens this Sunday, is always the most intriguing to me. Swing by Lot45 in Bushwick between 2 and 4pm and you can try all of the homemade flavors, some of which are going to get pretty creative. Tickets are $25.
