I remember the first time I had mezcal. My roommate and I went to Dynaco, our neighborhood bar, and asked the bartender to surprise us. While I’m sure that kind of drink order must be annoying, he handled it with aplomb and served us mezcal gimlets. “Smoky,” we remarked, after sipping. It was love at first taste.
Tuesday, September 10, is a chance to explore the spirit in depth at Good Move Tacos & Mezcal in Greenpoint. Yuan Ji, co-founder of the Brooklyn-based Erstwhile Mezcal, will lead a tasting and seminar at 6:30pm. The brand concerns itself with education, transparency, promoting small family producers, and empowerment of women in the wine and spirits industry.
