Spend the day in Greenpoint, starting with an urban meadow festival

By

The Kingsland Wildflowers Green Roof, a native rooftop meadow and wildlife habitat just off Newtown Creek, is hosting its 4th annual Wildflowers Festival on Saturday afternoon, just in time for Climate Week. From 2-6pm, you can get a free tour of the verdant rooftop, enjoy live music, collect seeds you can plant at home, watch the unveiling of a new public mural, be dazzled by aerialist and dance performances, check out the work of dozens of local artists in the gallery space, and chow down on free food. The day’s programming is free, and you can register here. The weather is supposed to be perfect on Saturday, so get out and enjoy this beautiful slice of Greenpoint while showing your support for ongoing efforts to preserve the environment through local, community-based programming. Afterward, explore more of the neighborhood with our 10 Hours in Greenpoint guide.
