Spice up your Saturday at the Chile Pepper Fest

By

The Big Easy hits Brooklyn on Saturday, when the 2019 Chile Pepper Festival, which has a distinctly N’awlins vibe this year, hits the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Starting at 11am, there will be all kinds of spicy foods to try from vendors like La Newyorkina, Pearl Street Caviar, and Sahadi’s, as well as cooking demonstrations, a hot pepper eating contest, a Second Line parade with the Plezi Rara Band, and pepper tours. At 5pm, a group of legendary New Orleans musicians like Irma Thomas, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, and John “Papa” Gros and his Band will take the stage for a special live concert. The full schedule is here, and tickets start at $25 for students and seniors, and $30 for everyone else.
