Sunday in Brooklyn: Holiday fun in GoSlope

By

On Sunday you can celebrate the holidays in Gowanus and South Slope, with an all-day program of festive events starting with the Brooklyn Cookie Takedown at 1pm at Royal Palms. For a $25 ticket, you’ll get to try all the Christmas cookies you can handle and help vote in the winner of prizes and bragging rights. Afterwards, Freddy’s Bar is hosting a Bard & Booze reading of A Christmas Carol by Siren & Sailor Theatre Co. from 2pm on. Billed as a drinking game set to the text of the Charles Dickens holiday classic, this sounds like a pretty fun (and free!) way to while away a chilly afternoon, and how many holiday markets can you really hit up at this point? Finally, comedian Eliot Glazer is hosting a special holiday edition of his Haunting Renditions Live show, which consists of the classically-trained vocalist turning bad pop songs into beautiful ballads, at Littlefield at 7pm. Given the perennial popularity of this event and the fact that Cecily Strong and Isaac Mizrahi are special guests this time, I’m really surprised it’s not sold out yet. Tickets are $15 each.
