• The Fight For Sunlight appears to be over and the Brooklyn Botanical Garden won. The City Planning Commission voted against unanimously against the development at 960 Franklin. • A unique vending machine is making its home at the Center For Fiction in Fort Greene. With the press of a button, the Short Story Dispenser will print you out a 1, 3, or 5 minute short story for free and will be available starting October 2. (Shaye Weaver for Time Out)

• The City Planning Commission gave an approval to the Gowanus rezoning. It means more than 8,000 new apartments with 3,000 deemed “affordable,” and $150 million in rehabilitation to the nearby NYCHA housing. Next, it heads to the City Planning Commission for a vote. (Greg David for The City)
