How to Play with Your Recylcing

By

Just in time for Earth Day, our annual opportunity to atone for our plastic sins, Tiffany Threadgould has published ReMake It, a book of 95 handmade projects that will breathe new life into your bottles, caps, and moth-eaten sweaters. Threadgould has built an empire out of scraps–she founded  RePlayGround, which produces crafty events and sells ReMake It kits that upcycle trash into household knickknacks, like magnets made of bottle caps.

All of the projects are in the book are doable for kids 8 and up, and entertaining for smaller kids with the help of an adult. Below is one kid-friendly project, a Plastic Bottle Toothbrush Holder, from ReMake It, which Threadgould will be signing at Green in BKLYN April 30 from 2 to 4pm, and at Greenlight Bookstore May 28, 11am-12. You can also win a copy–just tell us one other object Threadgould fashions from an old soda bottle. We’ll pick a random winner on Monday April 25.
