Workin it at Bitmap

It’s September, time to get back to work.

What’s that? Not looking forward to spending another fall working at home, or in a coffee shop, or in an office you swear is killing your soul?

There is another way to get the job done. It’s called co-working, and right now Bitmap Creative Labs is offering desk space at a serious discount until Monday, Sept. 10.

That’s when the Smallknot campaign to double the size of this friendly, collaborative workspace in Williamsburg expires. Contribute before then, and you can get a sweet deal on a day rate. For $25 you get 2 days of co-working space, $50 nets you a week, $100 two weeks. The deals go all the way up to $1000 for 3 months and 10 classes that they’ll be offering in their new space.

In fact, if you’ve got your workspace squared away, but would love a primer on things like IP Law, Business Strategy & Planning, Social Media Marketing, Branding & Advertising, Digital Photography, Photo Retouching, Video Production, Compositing, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Development (PHP, Ruby, WordPress, iOS, Android), your investment can also go toward one of these future classes at Bitmap.

For artists, architects and graphic designers, Bitmap also specializes in large-format Giclee printing, which you can get at a discount when you invest. $50 gets you $100 worth of printing plus free shipping; $100 gets you $200 worth.

And if you’re an admirer of fine design and handmade goods, you can still help this local business thrive by contributing $100 or $150 for one-of-a-kind, custom-made cards or hand towels designed by Dailey Crafton of Live from Brooklyn.

Did we mention that everyone who invests is welcome to a private, invitation-only event in the new space with food, drinks, and some rockin’ tunes?

Help Bitmap reach their goal, and they’ll use your funds to provide services to the NYC creative community at large. You have until Monday!

I like the idea of this new fundraising platform – to invest in new businesses – but the “perks” rewarded are not “investments.” My idea of an investment is having a stake in the future of a company, a percentage of profits, a life-time membership, etc. A few days of co-working is a “perk” – just like what kickstarter or indie go go offers.
