Need a Reason to Try Vegan?

By

As someone who regularly dreams about meat layered on cheese layered on more meat (bacon cheeseburger anyone?) my co-pilot is usually a palpable sense of trepidation when I venture out into the culinary hinterlands of veganism. But if you’re tired of your own knee-jerk responses like, “is there a version of this that isn’t gross?” and feel like expanding your palate and your horizons, then The Vegan Bake Off: Dessert Edition taking place at the Bell House this week is a pretty good place to start. As many as 20 homebakers will all be assembled under one roof to see if their dairy-less brownies, cakes, pies, and/or tarts have what it takes according to a panel of judges that include Adam Sobel (of Cinnamon Snail Food Truck and Certified Orgasmic) among others. At the very least, it’s a Sunday afternoon spent eating your way through a hip, adult version of a bake sale with a full service bar in the same building. Did weekend plans of waiting 45 minutes on line for brunch suddenly become a lot less appetizing? Grab tickets before they sell out!
