Can’t Please Them All

The 66th annual Cannes Film Festival kicks off May 15, where no doubt, a new crop of cinematic darlings will get their dues–or boos as the case may be. The films and directors that fall into the second category are the focus of BAM’s new film series, Booed at Cannes, which presents works that are now considered classics despite cold receptions at the festival itself. The series opens May 8 with a screening of Gertrude, director Carl Theodor Dreyer’s final film, and closes May 23. Highlights include Fellini’s The Voice of the Moon on May 16 and Taxi Driver on May 18.
