This weekend you’ll be granted access to some of the city’s historic landmarks, private residences and skyscrapers in all five boroughs as part of Open House New York–the largest architecture and design tour of NYC. Learn about the city’s rich history while poking around buildings you thought you’d only ever see in photos. The event is free, but some sites and tours require RSVPs so be sure to go to the OHNY site for info. Check out the 13 floors of the Frick Art Reference Library, explore the Brooklyn Navy Yard or take a tour with SHINE NYC ART’s Mary-Beth Shine as she takes you on a walking tour of Red Hook and drops some knowledge about the neighborhood. Cap off the weekend with a special screening/panel discussion for the gentrification documentary My Brooklyn on Sunday, Oct. 13, at Tribeca Cinemas–tickets are $35 and it starts at 6pm. Check out the map of participating venues and plan your weekend now!
