Bushwick Ballin’

If you haven’t been to one of our immersions yet this summer, you’ve been missing out. The day-long bar/restaurant/shopping crawls are a great excuse to discover a new neighborhood or spend some quality time in the ones you already love, indulge in daydrinking with your friends, and get rewarded for all those Instagram photos you were going to take anyway. This Saturday marks the final immersion of the summer, taking place in Bushwick. Get there at noon to pick up a card (one per person, remember) at Tradesman or Pine Box Rock Shop, the best vegan-empanadas-slinging beer bar in Brooklyn, then indulge in complimentary Brooklyn Brewery beer there and at Miles and Pearl’s Social and Billy Club (if you don’t mind mixing your beer with liquor, definitely ask the bartenders to whip up a cocktail for you—they’re awesome and totally reasonably priced). Beer-with-brunch awaits at the Anchored Inn, Northeast Kingdom, and Brooklyn Fireproof, and there will also be discounts at my fave hipster mall, The Loom, and Arancini Brothers, whose Sicilian rice balls are out-of-control good. We’re also doing an Instagram photo safari with prizes by Snapstagram, Brooklyn Brewery, and Better Than Jam, and throwing an afterparty at Tandem, the best brunch-by-day, laser-lights-disco-by-night bar I’ve ever been to. Roberta’s is also throwing a block party from noon until midnight, so get a solid base of beer on us at the immersion and then head over to Roberta’s for more beer, food, and, most amazing of all, the chance to party hard with the one and only Andrew WK. I’ll freely admit that before my friends moved to Bushwick, I was less-than-convinced that I’d like the nabe, but I’ve discovered that it’s a vibrant place filled with fantastic (and way cheap) bars and delicious food options—this Saturday, take the time to start (or renew) your own love affair with Bushwick. –C.A.
