I hold a special place in my heart for Martha Wainwright, and not just because one of her songs is titled, “Bloody Motherfucking Asshole.” Daughter of Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle and sister of Rufus, she writes passionate songs that are confessional and brazen, and delivers them with a gorgeous, sultry voice. It’s kind of music you listen to when you are highly pissed off or heartbroken or just need a pick me up. Trust me–the woman can even take the edge off the pain of labor. Aptly, her newest album, produced by Cibo Matto’s Yuka Honda, is titled Come Home to Mama, and she’s kicking off her tour at Littlefield tonight at 9pm. Tickets are $25.–N.D.
