The Brooklyn Public Library is wrapping up its summer reading program this Friday, Aug. 23, with a little help from some walruses. Beginning last week, BPL partnered with Wildlife Conservation Society’s New York Aquarium to host seven read-aloud children’s storytelling events about aquatic life at different library branches around Brooklyn. In addition to hearing about sea creatures, kids get a better understanding of what it’s like to be a walrus through trivia games that teach them everything from the anatomy to the eating habits of the marine mammals. A family four-pack of tickets to the aquarium is raffled off at every reading for a chance to see the bristly creatures up close at the aquarium. The final story time is happening at the King’s Bay branch at 2pm.
