Genre-defying Sudan Archives at Bowery Ballroom

By

Sudan Archives is the stage name of Brittney Denise Parks, a singer and self-taught violinist based in Los Angeles. Drawing inspiration from Sudanese fiddlers, as well as R&B and electronic music, she was a standout at Celebrate Brooklyn last June when she opened for Ibeyi. At that time, she had not yet released her LP, Athena, which came out in November.

For this new album, she collaborated with producers Washed Out, Rodaidh McDonald (The xx, Sampha, King Krule), and Paul White (Danny Brown), along with other musicians, all contributing to a lush, genre-defying sound. Her work has been praised by the New York Times, Pitchfork, and Vogue—catch her at Bowery Ballroom on Thursday, March 12, before she gets huge and tickets sell out!
