A Bucolic Destination in the Heart of Brooklyn: The Picnic House

Prospect Park, 585 acres of natural beauty, is one of Brooklyn’s most treasured destinations. Inspired by the bucolic Adirondacks, the historic Picnic House in Prospect Park provides the scenic pleasures of a wedding in the country without ever leaving the city.

Built in 1927, the Picnic House is a 4,000-square-foot Renaissance Revival structure with a terracotta tile roof, hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows. Its understated elegance and versatility can be tailored for every taste and budget.

Situated on a knoll overlooking the picturesque 90-acre Long Meadow, the Picnic House features spectacular views. With central air conditioning and a wood-burning fireplace, it is the ideal venue in every season, whether the first blooms of spring, the lush greenery of summer, colorful fall foliage or white, winter snow. With indoor and outdoor areas for ceremonies, you and your guests will experience the beauty of nature no matter what time of year. You can even entertain your guests with a grilled BBQ outdoors!

The Picnic House can accommodate up to 175 guests for seated dinner and dancing, and up to 240 for cocktails. The space also features a raised stage and a piano, making it the ideal venue for all kinds of festivities.
