Recipe: Wild Mary, a Bloody Mary mocktail from The Wayfarer

By

As part of our Dry January story featuring the best bars in NYC for delicious mocktails, we singled out The Wayfarer in Midtown as an ideal place for after-work drinks, minus the alcohol. Here, they share their Wild Mary recipe, which will batch up the perfect base for a bloody, with or without the vodka.

Ingredients

1 bell pepper

1/2 white onion

1/4 cucumber

1 celery stalks, plus stalks for garnish

1/3 cup of fresh-squeezed lemon juice, plus lemon slices for garnish

1/4 cup of celery salt

1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce

2 Tbsp Tabasco sauce

2 Tbsp black pepper

2 Tbsp horseradish

2 cans of tomato juice

1 ½ ounces probiotic kimchi juice

To make the mix, in a blender combine everything but the kimchi juice, blend and strain.

To serve, add 1 ½ ounces probiotic kimchi juice to a glass over ice and top with Bloody Mary mix. Garnish with celery, lemon wedge and your choice of add-ons.

Note: You can use the juice from a jar of kimchi, or substitute using 1/2 cup water mixed with 2 teaspoons of gochugaru, Korean red chile pepper.
