Jukebox the Ghost, who just released a new video for "Half Crazy," play Brooklyn Bowl this week.
The borough has a couple of good shows to check out this week, as we cast off the turkey-induced lethargy of Thanksgiving and usher in December, even though it still feels like early fall.
Head on over to Brooklyn Bowl (61 Wythe Avenue) to check out Dum Dum Girls. The punk-influenced power pop quartet will headline a show on December 1. Their second album, Only in Dreams, just came out in September to generally positive reviews. This sophomore full-length was a little more melodically risky than the 2010 debut I Will Be, and deals with the illness and death of frontwoman Dee Dee’s mother. The Thursday night 21-and-over show starts at 8pm, with doors at 6pm, and costs $10. The opening acts are Dive and X-Ray Eyeballs.
Philly trio Jukebox the Ghost will be in town on Friday night, also at Brooklyn Bowl. The group released their second album, Everything Under the Sun, last year, and have toured with Ben Folds and Barenaked Ladies. They’ve got a poppy rock sound that’s a little sunny and bouncy but still melodic. The 21-and-over show starts at 8 p.m., with doors at 6, and tickets are $10. The Spinto Band and Deleted Scenes will open the gig.
