Back when we read Little House on the Prairie (third grade, if anyone’s asking) we remember running around our backyard and pretending that we too were living the wild pioneer life that Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote about in the popular book series. On Tuesday night at WORD, Wendy McClure will share her personal experience trying to live “the Wilder life,” as depicted in her book of that name. Author Jami Attenberg will interview McClure on her attempts at being a 21st century homesteader, from grinding wheat to traveling to Wilder-featured destinations. For Little House obsessives, the evening will also include a trivia contest and a butter churning demonstration; finally, in homage to the books, there will also be “store-boughten” candy.
