Brooklyn’s Country Roots

Apple isn’t the only sort of pie you can get this week – stop by Southpaw on Friday for a big slice of Americana Pie. The two-night fest featuring the best of roots and country music begins with Friday’s Gay Old Opry. Folk-rockers Mount Moriah headline the night; along with other bands, the event also features a bake sale benefiting the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, a two-stepping lesson, and a Dolly Parton-themed raffle. Saturday’s Brooklyn County Fair features a number of edgy country-influenced acts, like the bluegrass-meets-hip-hop act Gangstagrass. Individual tickets are available now, but pick up a two-day pass to get a drink ticket and a copy of This Is Brooklyn Country, Vol. 2 for free.
