Back before Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, and even Real World, MTV was a magical wonderland of pioneering music videos by legendary musical artists…okay, and a few real stinkers, too. This Thursday, powerHouse Arena is bringing in Craig Marks and Rob Tannenbaum, the coauthors of the new book I Want My MTV: The Uncensored Story of the Music Video Revolution, to present music videos they themselves describe as “fantastically horrible.” They’ll be joined by a number of music journo luminaries, including Love is a Mix Tape and Talking to Girls About Duran Duran author Rob Sheffield, the Village Voice’s Maura Johnston, and Billboard’s Danyel Smith, who will be there to talk about their favorite videos that didn’t stand the test of time.
