Think that, despite having one of the raddest live music scenes in the world, New York misses out on the festival scene? Well, get thee to the Popfest, and have your mind changed, fair reveler. Now in its sixth official year, NYC Popfest is a four day festival that takes place at multiple venues across the city, and features real talent, both local and international. Unlike other music festivals however, it has yet to be ruined by corporate overlords and is SO CHEAP. Seriously, a pass for the entire shebang runs only $50, and even the final night at Littlefield with festival headliner Allo Darlin’ is just $15 advance—AND one entire show at Spike Hill is completely free. Other locations include Knitting Factory and Public Assembly, and if you score a festival pass or tickets to Friday night’s show, entry is included to an after party at Cameo. So go to one night or go to all, but definitely go—who knows how long such festival purity will last?
