It’s that time of year again when record nerds can revel in all things vinyl; pick up new limited edition releases and strange formats; and hang out with other record nerds all over town. Yes, it’s Record Store Day! This year’s ambassador is Jack White, who has churned out some of the most unique creations on vinyl to date. Sadly, some legendary record stores have shuttered as of late–RIP Bleecker Bob’s, which closed last Saturday and Sound Fix, which will celebrate its last day (and last Record Store Day) this Saturday. Other participating Brooklyn shops include Permanent Records, Earwax Records, Academy Records, Co Op 87, Norman’s Sound and Vision, Halcyon, and of course, there are a ton more across the river if you want to be adventurous. Each store will carry special Record Store Day releases alongside newly discounted items and events including live, in-store performances, DJs and many other surprises.
