Inspired by Joan Didion’s essay of the same name, 28 female writers contributed essays about their love/hate relationship with leaving, and sometimes returning to, New York City in the new book Goodbye to All That: Writers on Loving and Leaving New York. On Oct. 23, at Greenlight Bookstore, many of these writers and other New Yorkers will get together with editor Sari Botton to read, discuss and maybe even answer a few questions about their experiences. Even if you haven’t left New York, you’ve probably at least thought about it, so come commiserate. The reading starts at 7:30pm.
