Lovers of street food, from pupusas to souvlaki to tamales to Thai noodles, should plan to take a ferry to Governors Island this Saturday for the 14th Annual Vendy Awards, an all-you-can-eat-and-drink extravaganza showcasing the very best food coming out of NYC’s pushcarts and food trucks. The event runs from 12:30-5pm, and tickets are $100 a pop. Later that night, Greenpoint’s North Brooklyn Boat Club is throwing its annual fundraiser, the Rock the Pulaski Party, from 6pm-midnight, which means bonfires, bands performing live, food and drink for sale, and a chance to support NBBC’s community programming on NYC’s waterways. Entry is $5 before 10pm, and $10 after. Finally, BAM is hosting a live taping of actor Dax Shepard’s interview podcast, Armchair Expert, at 10pm. I haven’t ever listened to this one, but it sounds like a compelling deep dive into the minds of famous creatives, and there are still tickets available starting at $35, although the 7pm show is sold out.
