Burgers, Bourbon and Beethoven at Green-Wood

By

Green-Wood Cemetery’s traditional contribution to Memorial Day weekend is its beloved annual concert featuring the musical works of some of its “permanent residents,” like Leonard Bernstein and Fred Ebb. That’s happening this Monday, as it has for the past two decades, from 2:30-5pm, and it’s free and a very nice way to spend your bonus afternoon off. That said, however, if you don’t already have a BBQ to attend this weekend, consider grabbing a few pals and heading over to a brand new festival the Cemetery is also hosting this Saturday. The name is self-explanatory, and grounds this particular event in three of the best things we encounter in this life: Burgers, Bourbon, and Beethoven. Starting at 7pm, watch the sunset over New York Harbor while you enjoy two varieties of sliders fresh off the grill, unlimited tastings of bourbon from some superlative local distillers, and a live performance of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony by the String Orchestra of Brooklyn. Tickets are $80 and the event runs until 10pm.
