Founded in Soho in 1977, The Drawing Center is one of those little gems of a museum you may not have heard of (yet). With exhibitions, open drawing sessions, and other activities, The Drawing Center is focused on, well, everything that has to do with drawing. Tuesday night join their chief curator for a conversation with artist Timothy Curtis and Dawan Williams, Program Coordinator for the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Restorative Justice Guild program. Under the umbrella of their current exhibition “The Pencil Is a Key: Drawings by Incarcerated Artists,” they’ll be discussing creating art in the context of our country’s prison system, a timely topic given the recent publication of a Guantánamo prisoner’s disturbing drawings. Tickets are $5 and the event begins at 6pm.
