Through the Looking Glass

WILLIAMSBURG If you are at all taken with the terrarium craze, you’ll appreciate the work of Patrick Jacobs. The artist creates three-dimensional, miniature dioramas behind thick glass lenses, installed within a gallery’s walls. The effect of peering into one of his spatially disorienting scenes, whether verdant fields or an empty apartment, is like viewing a magical, alternate reality. In his latest show, “Familiar Terrain,” look for a subtle installation and his most ambitious work to date, a diorama behind a 19-inch lens. The opening reception is tonight at Pierogi from 7-9pm.
