To commemorate the opening of its garden-wide trail highlighting indigenous plants and the Native Flora Garden, Brooklyn Botanic Garden has organized a day-long celebration of edibles, crafts, beer, and bands that are all locally grown. You can sample food and get demos in jam-making, herbal vinegars, and pickling from food artisans like Kelly Geary and Shamus Jones of Brooklyn Brine; learn natural dying and papermaking from the Textile Arts Center; hear bands like the Difibulators; and entertain the kiddos with herbal bubble-bath making and bee costumes. Homegrown runs from noon to 6pm and is free with admission.
