New Jersey’s more than GTL, team meatballs and fist-pumping to really awful techno. At least that’s what Vol. 1 Brooklyn will have you thinking. From Patti Smith to Bruce Springsteen, the state has clearly done its fair share of contributing to the country at large. On Thursday night, Vol. 1 Brooklyn teams up with Akashic Books to host a series of readings at WORD about, or by readers from, New Jersey. For Vol. 1’s latest installment of its Civic Pride Series, they’ve rounded up some really great readers including Maris Kreizman (creator of Slaughterhouse 90210, a blog that combines a love of literature with a love for bad TV), Amy Klein (Titus Andronicus), Hirsh Sawhney (a teacher and a contributor to New Jersey Noir) and more.
