Far Out Music Fest

By

Eric San, better known by his DJ handle Kid Koala, is a true Renaissance man. In addition to collaborating with Gorillaz, opening for the likes of Radiohead and the Beastie Boys, and contributing to the scores for Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, he has released three solo albums, published two graphic novels, and garnered an impressive cult following. This week, the tour in support of his latest book will make its American debut at the Irondale Center after a sold-out European leg. The  Space Cadet Headphone Concert, an interactive experience for all ages based on the story of a young girl who becomes an astronaut, will be performed in three separate shows over two nights.  This is not your typical concert, though, as guests will be able to relax on special inflatable space pods and listen to the downtempo score through top-flight wireless headphones. Before the show, audience members will be encouraged to check out a gallery of Kid Koala’s artwork, play games, fiddle with vintage music equipment, and even make “space cookies.”  Tickets are $25 and are available here.
