A Tequila-Paired Dinner from Añejo to Z

By

Your host of the evening, Iñaki Orozco, founder and owner of Riazul Premium Tequila

If you have ever picked out a bottle of tequila without knowing what the words on the label really mean–aside from a vague notion that silver is “cheaper” and reposado is “fancy”–a tequila-paired dinner at Lobo on Thursday, July 12 will school you over three courses of fancy Tex-Mex fare.

The host of the evening is Iñaki Orozco, founder and owner of Riazul Premium Tequila, a newer distillery that is focused on creating a smooth tequila made from 100% blue agave, grown on his family’s land in Mexico’s Jalisco Highlands.

In the intimate dining room above Lobo on Court Street, Iñaki will be discussing the story behind his tequila, the history of tequila in general, and answering questions from guests.

He’ll also explain the difference between various styles of tequila as you sip Riazul Plata, Reposado, and Añejo with dishes like grilled cactus salad, mole pulled pork enchiladas and Mexican brownies (check out the full menu below). Each dinner also comes with one of two Riazul cocktails: The Balboa, with Riazul Plata Tequila, Chartreuse, seltzer, and fresh lime or El Valencia, with Riazul Anejo Tequila, Cointreau, fresh lemon and orange bitters.

No one will raise an eyebrow if you order a margarita, but Lobo’s tequila dinner is a chance to experience the agave spirit in a new light, with the help of delicious food and a fascinating host.

The dinner is $45 per person, excluding tax and tip. Call to RSVP soon–there are just 30 spots available: 718-858-7739.
