Local Roots + Local Veggies

By

For lazy New Yorkers like me, the prospect of being able to pick up a selection of fresh, local veggies at my favorite bar is basically the best thing ever. Thanks to Local Roots NYC, that dream is a weekly reality. The friendly little CSA, which has pickups in bars like 61 Local, Harefield Road and Pencil Factory, is celebrating its second anniversary this week with a party at 61. There’ll be two pinatas (turnip- and strawberry-shaped) with goodies from Local Roots’ Brooklyn share; a makeshift photo booth; and even the chance to make musical instruments out of veggies and perform in a hootenanny. All guests will also get a free pint of beet wheat home brew. It’ll all be taking place on 61 Local’s mezzanine at 7pm, with the pinata-breaking scheduled for 8:30pm. –C.A.
