On the little strip of Kent between S. 1st and S. 2nd streets, not far from the enormous glass eyesores we call The Edge, lies a little piece of art and punk rock that’s managed to remain unscathed despite the constant morphing of the neighborhood, consisting of Glasslands, IndieScreen, 285 Kent and the latest addition: Ran Tea House. Tonight catch Ian Svenonius’ Chain and the Gang tear up the place while you sip on a Golden Silk Jasmine green tea or the Taiwan Ice Peak Iron Goddess Oolong tea. Svenonious has been on a long tour in support of his latest book Supernatural Strategies For Making a Rock ‘n’ Roll Group, and is sure to be in top form for the show. Joining them on the bill is the deep, deep voiced founder of K Records/Beat Happening frontman Calvin Johnson. Tickets are $10, available here.
