Let’s face it, this winter is the pits: a vast, colorless slog of grey snow, black parkas, depressing subway rides and endless Netflix marathons. Throw everyone’s favorite holiday, Valentines Day, into the mix, and this could really be the grimmest week of the year, until you realize that Brooklyn Botanic Garden is throwing an awesome ’80s-style prom on Thursday. That’s right, dudes, time to snap out of it, dust off the cheesy tux, fire up the crimping iron and transport yourself back to most fun decade at Love Hurts, a dance party featuring cocktails, beer and live music from our favorite ’80s cover band, White Wedding. If you were lucky enough to see them perform a few summers back at our Boardrockin’ event at Rockaway Beach, you’ll no doubt recall the costumes, the perfectly executed covers of all your favorite ’80s jams and the fact that you never stopped dancing.
