Working as staff editor for the New York Times is enough pressure to make anyone turn to drink, but in the case of Clay Risen, his interest in alcohol has less to do with self-medication and more to do with his new book, American Whiskey, Bourbon and Rye: A Guide to the Nation’s Favorite Spirit. If there are two things Risen likes to write about, it’s history and hooch. He’ll be at Sycamore on Feb. 24 for their next Flowerside Chat to discuss America’s fondness for the dark spirit, during a whiskey tasting with Kansas City’s Dark Horse Distillery.
