It’s been a busy summer and I’ve been an alarmingly nonprolific reader, but I can’t believe I still haven’t made it over to Cobble Hill yet to check out Books Are Magic, the new book store that novelist Emma Straub and her husband opened a few months back to fill the void left when BookCourt closed earlier this year. Monday night sounds like a the perfect time for my first visit, because they are throwing a Summer Reading Soiree at which two of my all-time favorite things, books and rosé, will be heavily featured. It starts at 7pm, entry is free, and you’ll have the chance to enter a raffle for prizes from Riverhead Books, Yes Way Rose, Books Are Magic, and more. Finally, as if I needed any more incentive with respect to this Monday night plan, all proceeds will benefit Planned Parenthood. I might swing by Gotham Market at the Ashland on my way over, because from now through Labor Day you can score major deals on drinks and food from their various vendors on Monday nights between 6pm and 8pm.
