A party for the bookish crowd

By

In the run-up to Sunday’s Brooklyn Book Festival Day, which features readings and talks by megawatt literati like Joyce Carol Oates, Jacqueline Woodson, Karl Ove Knausgard, Jonathan Lethem, Colson Whitehead, and many more, there are associated “bookend” events happening all week throughout the borough. Friday night’s eighth annual Brooklyn Indie Party at Greenlight seems like a particularly good bet if you feel inclined to celebrate and support Brooklyn’s thriving community of independent publishers and magazines like A Public Space, Archipelago Books, powerHouse Books, Ugly Duckling Press, and Brooklyn Arts Press. Rub elbows with top local authors and publishers as you enjoy food, drinks, and music, peruse new titles, and enter to win books from each of the participating publishers. The party starts at 7:30 and is free to attend.
